Copyediting and Proofreading Services

I’m passionate about collaborating
in the quality production of your books.

About Me

My name is Priscila Perales, and I’m a proofreader with a BA in History from PUCP (Peru’s #1 university according to the QS Ranking 2026). Yes, that means English is my second language, but I love it and have been learning it ever since I was a child. I even participated in an exchange program at Baylor University for a full semester as part of my undergrad. An avid reader from an early age, my proofreading experience stems from the 250+ ARCs I have helped typo-hunt in the past 7 years.

Bringing along the skills I developed during my undergraduate career, such as research, attention to detail, and an inquiring mind, I’m committed to helping you publish the best version of your books, using industry-standard tools like the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s dictionary. In my spare time, I can be found reading, listening to audiobooks or music, singing, playing the recorder, solving sudokus, or listening to the occasional podcast.

Let’s Work Together!
My Services
Light Copyediting + Proofreading

The light copyediting works on correcting continuity problems, redundancies, flagging inaccuracies, and pointing out oddly phrased sentences. The proofreading focuses on finding typographical errors, misspelled words, grammatical problems, punctuation mistakes, spacing errors, consistency in characters’ names, and alignment of paragraph indents.

I do not work with horror or spicy (steamy, erotica) content.

Sensitivity Reading

As a Hispanic and Latina, I can help you point out any cultural inaccuracies, biases, or stereotypes in your work, and/or check for correct Spanish usage.

Translation

As a native Spanish speaker, I can help you translate your book from English to Spanish. Pricing also includes a proofreading pass from a different native Spanish speaker.

“Priscila is a joy to work with. She’s detailed and meticulous in her work and has such a sharp eye. She catches so many errors, especially when she does a second pass on a manuscript. You can also expect her communication to be clear and prompt. I highly recommend her services!”

“Priscila is one of the best proofreaders I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. She’s incredibly thorough and has a sharp eye for detail. We’ve always had great communication, and her turn around times are fast. She takes a very studious approach to her work. I trust her comments on my manuscript more than most native speakers. I highly recommend her services! She delivers as promised time and time again.”

Rachel E ScottAuthor of “Little Miss Haunted

“Priscila has a phenomenal grasp of English grammar (I think it may be better than mine, which is AMAZING given that it’s her second language), and she was incredibly helpful in pointing out typos for me in my two last releases. Her attention to detail is impressive, and I’m so grateful for her help in making my books shine!”

“Priscila’s sharp eyes have been integral in releasing clean, well-proofread books. Although English is her second language, I’m always amazed at the corrections she finds even after many others have read over my manuscript.”
Jess Heileman*Author of “Abigail”
and “A Well-Trained Lady”
“Priscila Perales has voluntarily completed proofreading/line-editing passes on all of my books, and she has always managed to find errors missed by everyone else in the course of editing. (Often this is because I made alterations after a final proofread, which is sometimes necessary to me as an author, but not a commentary on the abilities of my original proofreaders.) Priscila is thorough, accurate, and gentle in her suggestions for change. I would enthusiastically recommend her services to anyone searching for final polishing of a manuscript!”
Julie Christianson*Author of “The Mostly Real McCoy,” “My Own Best Enemy,”
“Pretending I Love Lucy,” and “Faking the Fall”
“Priscila has an eagle eye when it comes to spotting typos and even the tiniest details, like misplaced commas, which most overlook. Even if my books have been through multiple eyes combing through it, she still somehow manages to spot mistakes. She’s also so gracious and kind about pointing them out and maintains professionalism through and through. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for a final set of eyes before hitting that publish button. You won’t regret it!”
Joanna Alonzo*Author of “The Prodigal Ones” series
